New Jersey Teens Sue Over 'God Bless America' Ejection

New Jersey Teens Sue Over 'God Bless America' Ejection

Shared via AddThis

It's odd to me that the boys wouldn't know to stand for the song... Of course, it's "I said, you said" regarding the actual problem. Guess they'll drag in witnesses to prove what really happened.

Harry, et al. a/k/a Misc. notes

My sound bytes for today

Happy Birthday, Harry!

Best wishes to Prince Henry of the United Kingdom on his 25th birthday. Have a safe, wise and enjoyable celebration, young man. Many folks are praying for you, and I am one of them. May you have a healthy year, grow in your knowledge of Christ Jesus, and reach ever higher toward your personal goals.

Carter, Wilson & Obama - Taxes?

No, Pres. Carter, it's not about race... Rep. Wilson was completely out of line to behave the way he did last week during Pres. Obama's televised speech to Congress. However, it has nothing to do with race. Neither does the uprising regarding the tax issue. Pres. Obama is spending money he doesn't have. So is Congress, incidentally... Liberal America needs to wake up. We can't keep spending from an empty bank account.

Patrick Swayze

It is a sad day here in America. Actor/singer Patrick Swayze has lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. This breaks my heart. While I could live without the "dirty dancing", I liked his acting and singing. I will miss his presence in the movies. My prayers go out to his wife and family who will miss him much more.

Speaking of sad days: September 11th

My remembrance on September 11th was a bit slim this year. It amounted to watching United Flight 93 again and saying a prayer for the families who lost loved ones that morning. I'll try to do better next year, though I do pray for these families throughout the year. We should keep these folks in our prayers frequently. Let's also remember to pray for our military personnel who continue to fight the types of people who caused such pain that day.

Israel - War Crimes?

Get real, people. Israel gets accused of "war crimes" while Hamas and other militant groups get by with their violations continually? Give me a break.

Public Television

So my local PBS station continues to amaze me. They provide the best programs to our community. Thank you, PBS!! (I can't wait to see their special on our national parks!)

An Interesting Read...

Thanks to CrankyBeach (THIS Is What Is Wrong With Healthcare In America), I have found two new reads:

Second Shift: Stories from the ER

Check out the post about the abuse of the ER system. It is enough to drive you mad!

Blackaby and Landaker Remember CA Fallen

FoxNews put out an article by the Associated Press yesterday telling of two California men and their special shared experience honoring thousands of our fallen American heroes this Memorial Day weekend at Riverside National Cemetery. The story brought tears to my eyes.

I have always been mindful of those who purchased our freedoms and supportive of our military men and women whose preserve them; but these past few years have drawn me ever closer to all of them. Seeing my own son in his Class A uniform this morning makes the story of Richard Blackaby and Joe Landaker even more meaningful to me ...and even more difficult for me to read.

Volunteers Read Names of 148,000 Fallen Soldiers in Memorial Day Roll Call
RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Abts, Richard. Adamski, Walter. Ahlman, Enoch.

The names are whisked away by the hot, gusting wind as soon as they are spoken, forgotten in the stream of the next name and the next name and the next name.

Fuller, Addison. Fuller, Mary. Furlong, John.

The story of America could be told through these names, tales of bravery and hesitation, of dreams achieved or deferred and of battles won and lost.

Endeavor Crew - Welcome Home!

We are watching via live stream from sunny CA the return of the Endeavor crew from its mission to the International Space Station. My heart is warmed to see their safe return. It was a beautiful landing, Captain Ferguson!

Thanks to FOXNews' Live Stream for making it possible for me to view the return of our NASA heroes.

I watched the live stream of Endeavor's take-off online and am pleased now to watch her landing online as well. Soon the astronauts will show themselves to the public. I wish I were there to shout, Welcome home!!

Congress Did Do Its Job

From the article Stocks plunge after bailout bill fails in House:
“How could this have happened? Is there such a disconnect on Capitol Hill? This becomes a problem because Wall Street is very uncomfortable with uncertainty,” said Gordon Charlop, managing director with Rosenblatt Securities. “The bailout not going through sends a signal that Congress isn’t willing to do their part.”
No, it doesn't!

It means Congress heard the American people say that they do not want to give more power to the Treasury Secretary, that they do not wish to bail out Wall Street at the taxpayers' expense.
“We need to put something back together that works,” Paulson said. “We need it as soon as possible.”
Congress should go back to the drawing table with the White House and make a plan that solves this crisis without taking the power of a private economy away from the people and putting it into the hand of the government.

No socialism here; we do not want it.

Texas Takes a Beating

No, I am not talking about college football. Hurricane Ike is pounding east Texas. The video below shows the waves coming in from the Gulf, up over the shore line, and into the homes, which are already flooded from last night's storm surge. Please keep the people who live here in your prayers. There are some who failed to evacuate and need to be rescued; and of course, all who return to their homes will be heartbroken at the sight of trees toppled onto their homes and the smell of mold growing as the water subsides.

Ok, so I could not get the video to post. You can see the video and others like it on MSNBC.com's article Survivors beg for help as Ike ravages Texas

Fickle Fay: The Storm With ADHD

It is true: storms can have ADHD. First they go one way, then another, then yet another. Then, miraculously, they decide to sit still... only for a little while, because they are soon off again!

"Fickle Fay" has done exactly that, as have many more before her and as will many after her. The poor forecasters can only guess what a storm will do based on various meteorological data and an understanding of previous storms. They just cannot accurately predict what any one storm will do, hence the endless warnings to "stay tuned for updates as the storm progresses".

They are wise to tell us. We tend to think that a storm will continue on a certain track because NOAA's National Hurricane Center said this is what to expect. We want this to be the easy answer but it is only a prediction. Remember the hallmark principal: Mother Nature is fickle... and so are her children.

"She's going northwest. Wait, now she's steering northeastward. Hold on, now she's stalling. She will be / might be / could be a hurricane at landfall. No, she's a tropical storm, this time a rain maker not a wind maker, but watch out for her winds of 60 mph."

If only we had Ritalin for a storm...

It is also important to realize that a tropical cyclone is not a point. Their effects can span many hundreds of miles from the center.
